The remote control assignment (job # Y39525) got loose and derailed several cars on K35018 arriving in Birmingham Yard from Nashville. Investigation is centering on the amount of training received by the remote control crew, which consisted of borrowed out employees from another location on a temporary transfer. At least seven cars on K35018 derailed with three turned over. The two remote control locomotives damaged and leaked fuel. Equipment damages: $115,000. Damage to signals: $20,000.00. Track damages: $3,500.
