At Thursday morning's opening ceremonies, Navajo Elder Rex Redhouse and his wife Maria performed a ceremonial blessing and sang a traditional tribal song in his Native American tongue to honor the occasion, the place, and the participants, as well as to provide a safe journey for those traveling to and from the convention.
