(The Associated Press circulated the following on June 2, 2009.)

FORT WORTH, Texas — The BNSF Railway Co. plans this month to start the first of five projects in South Dakota to replace about 73 track miles of rail along its system.

The work is scheduled between Glenham and Morristown, Alpena and Wolsey, Alexandria and Canton, Crooks and Lyons, and Harrisburg and Sioux Falls.

The last of the projects is expected to end in September. The company says the total cost is almost $11 million.
