2000 Elections
Voting makes change happen
The year 2000 elections will present a challenge to the labor movement. Not only are the Presidential elections being held, but key Congressional races could allow the Democratic Party to retake the House of Representatives. These federal elections along with a host of issue referendums and state and local elections could spell change for the BLE and the rest of the labor movement.
The next several pages should help BLE members jump on the bandwagon and help change their lives and the lives of other working Americans through the greatest power given to citizens in a democracy -- the right to vote. This section will give members and non-members information regarding the ins and outs of voting in your home state. Also included is information about the AFL-CIO's Labor 2000 drive and a Guest Comment by Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chairman Patrick Kennedy (D-R.I.). We've also listed BLE members already holding office, as inspiration for all of you aspiring politicians.
So get out and vote!
