Founded in 1931, the Air Line Pilots Association is a union representing 62,000 airline pilots at 42 U.S. and Canadian airlines.

The Amalgamated Transit Union was founded in 1892. Today, the ATU has over 175,000 members working in various transportation fields.

The American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees, AFSCME, has 1.3 million members. It was founded in 1936 and is comprised of members from all areas of state, local and municipal government.

Founded in 1945, the Association of Flight Attendants (AFA) represents over 50,000 flight attendants at 26 airlines.

The American Federation of Teachers represents one million teachers, support staff, high education faculty and staff, healthcare professionals and state and municipal employees. It was founded in 1916.
The Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employes was founded in 1887 and represents around 60,000 members who build and maintain tracks, bridges, buildings and other railroad structures.

The Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen was founded in 1901 and represents 10,000 men and women who install and maintain signal systems for most of the nation's railroads.

Founded in 1938, the Communications Workers of America represents over 740,000 men and women, in both private and public sectors, working in telecommunications, broadcasting, cable TV, journalism, publishing, electronics and general manufacturing, as well as airline customer service, government service, health care, education and other fields.

The Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees International Union (HERE), founded in 1892, is a labor union representing approximately 265,000 hospitality industry workers across the United States and Canada.

The International Association of Fire Fighters, founded in 1918, represents more than 250,000 professional fire fighters and emergency medical personnel in the United States and Canada.
The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers is the largest airline union in North America. The organization, representing 150,000 air and rail members throughout the U.S. and Canada, was founded in 1890.

The International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Iron Ship Builders, Blacksmiths, Forgers and Helpers - commonly referred to as the Boilermakers Union - represents over 100,000 workers throughout the United States and Canada in construction, repair, maintenance, manufacturing, professional emergency medical services, and related industries. It was founded in 1893.

International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers was founded in 1891. Its members work in broadcasting, construction and maintenance, government, manufacturing, railroads, telecommunications and utilities.
Organized in 1892, the International Longshoremen's Association is the largest union of maritime workers in North America, representing upwards of 65,000 longshoremen on the Atlantic and Gulf Coasts, Great Lakes, major U.S. rivers, Puerto Rico and Eastern Canada.

The International Brotherhood of Teamsters was founded in 1903 and now represents 1.4 million members in various industries throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Founded in 1937, the International Longshore and Warehouse Union has approximately 42,000 members in over 60 local unions in the states of California, Washington, Oregon, Alaska and Hawaii. Another 14,000 members belong to the autonomous ILWU Canada.
The International Organization of Masters, Mates & Pilots (MM&P) is the International Marine Division of the International Longshoremen's Association, AFL-CIO. With 6,800 members living throughout inland and coastal states of the U.S., and in countries around the world, the MM&P represents Licensed Deck Officers, state pilots and other marine personnel on U.S.-flag commercial vessels sailing in international trade.
Founded in 1896, the International Union of Operating Engineers has 400,000 members in some 170 local unions throughout the United States and Canada. It primarily represents Operating Engineers, who work as heavy equipment operators, mechanics, and surveyors in the construction industry, and Stationary Engineers, who work in operations and maintenance in building and industrial complexes, and in the service industries. The IUOE also represents nurses and other health industry workers as well as significant numbers of public employees engaged in a wide variety of occupations.

The Laborers' International Union of North America was founded in 1903. The union's 800,000 members work in a wide variety of fields such as state, local and federal government service, as well as health care, mail handling, custodial services, shipbuilding, food service, construction and hazardous waste removal (including asbestos and lead).

The Marine Engineers' Beneficial Association (MEBA) is the nation's oldest maritime labor union, established in 1875. MEBA represents licensed engine and deck officers aboard seagoing vessels, ferries and government-contracted ships.
Founded in 1897, National Air Traffic Controllers Association represents approximately the 15,000 dedicated and well-trained men and women, who assist in the safe operations of our nation's air traffic system and 2,508 other professionals.

There are 312,500 active and retired members of the National Association of Letter Carriers, of which about 227,241 are active postal employees. The union represents 241,255 city delivery letter carriers employed by the U.S. Postal Service. The union was founded in 1889.

National Conference of Firemen and Oilers is part of the SEIU 1.2 million members in the United States, Canada Puerto Rico. The organization, founded in 1898, has approximately 23,000 members.
The Office and Professional Employees International Union represents members in industries as varied as banking, insurance, universities, shipping, hospitals and nursing homes, utilities, transportation, manufacturing, paper companies, hotels and many more.

Professional Airways Systems Specialists is the exclusive representative for more than 11,000 FAA employees of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the Department of Defense (DoD).

The Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union, UFCW, AFL-CIO, CLC, represents workers in a wide variety of occupations that range from food processing to retail to manufacturing to service and health care. It was founded in 1937 and currently has 100,000 members.

The Service Employees International Union represents 1.5 million employees in various fields.

SMWIA, the Sheet Metal Workers' International Association, represents 150,000 skilled craftspersons in the unionized sheet metal industry throughout the United States and Canada and was founded in 1888.
Founded in 1889, Transportation Communications Union represents a diverse group of workers, including: carmen, clerks, auto technicians, computer programers, sky-caps & redcaps, on-board service workers, secretaries, supervisors, government workers, truck drivers, accountants, yardmasters, intermodal workers, police officers, reservations agents and transit workers.

The Transport Workers Union of America was founded in 1934 and represents workers in Mass Transportation, Airline, Railroad, Utility, University, Municipalities, Service and allied industries.

United Mine Workers of America was founded in 1890 and represents workers in the coal and mining industry.

The United Steelworkers of America, AFL-CIO
represents over 700,000 members in the U.S. and Canada. The USWA traditionally
has represented workers in steel, aluminum, can, mining, manufacturing,
chemical, and other industries, additionally the union represents workers
in the manufacturing industry, retail, health care, service and public sectors.
