Honor Rolls
Canadian Brothers honored for years of membership
On Dec. 4, 2000, family, friends, BLE officers and invited guests attended a dinner to honor long-time Division 562 members W.J. Sauriol, Henry McChristie and Stan Kusik.
Years of service plaques were presented to these members by International
Vice-President & National Legislative Representative-Canada George Hucker
and Canadian Pacific General Chairman Robert McKenna.
Brother Sauriol, 80, joined the BLE on Jan. 2, 1948. He retired on Nov. 30, 1980. He received a 50-year membership pin.
Brother Kusik received a 40 year membership pin. He celebrated his 78th birthday on April 4. Stan joined the BLE on March 1, 1959 and retired on June 1, 1983.
Brother McChristie, 80, was lauded for 55 years of BLE membership. He joined the BLE on April 1, 1946 and retired on June 30, 1979.
All three Brothers retired from the Candian Pacific Railway. Along with their membership pins and plaques, the three Brothers received numerous other gifts and momentos. All in attendance offered best wishes and congratulations to the three long-time members who were honored that evening.

Sefton celebrates 55 years of membership
BLE Division 830 (Cincinnati, Ohio) member John C. Sefton celebrated 55 years of continuous membership on April 7.
Brother Sefton hired out on the New York Central in 1937 as a member
of a section gang in Cincinnati. He went firing four years later and was
promoted to engineer by the New York Central in 1951. He joined the BLE
in 1946 and retired in 1977. Both his father and brother were locomotive
engineers.
Prior to joining the BLE, Sefton served his country for four years as an infantryman in Europe. He was awarded a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star during his time in the service.
Brother Sefton was the secretary-treasurer of Division 830 in 1956 and was a member of the Ohio State Legislative Board four times. He made his last run on Oct. 3, 1977 from Cincinnati to Indianapolis.
He and his wife Pearl were married in 1984. He has three children, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
