Honor Rolls
Runyan served as fireman on special FDR train in 1942

Brother Darrell Wayne Runyan of BLE Division 5 (Los Angeles) celebrated 48 years of continuous membership in the BLE on April 14, 2003.
Brother Runyan, a veteran of the Army Air Corps, made his last run on February 24, 1978, as an engineer in the Bloomington, Calif., yard. He began his railroad career as a fireman on June 7, 1941, for the Southern Pacific Railroad in Colton, Calif. He was promoted to locomotive engineer on July 7, 1946, by the SP.
One of the most memorable moments of Brother Runyan's career on the railroad was serving as a fireman for one of President Franklin Roosevelt's special trains in 1942.
Runyan and his wife Sue, have three children, Susan, Stephen and Patrick, nine grandchildren and five great-granchildren.

Wright keeps busy after retirement
Brother Lewis Wright of BLE Division 325 (Wilkinsburg, Pa.) has been
a member of the BLE for nearly 42 years in a row. He joined the BLE on December
1, 1961.
Brother Wright began his railroad career as a fireman on the Bessemer & Lake Erie Railroad in 1942. He was promoted to the position of locomotive engineer in 1950 and made his last run in November 1978.
Since his retirement, Brother Wright and his wife, Ester, have been trying to stay active and healthy. The couple has two sons, Lewis and Robert; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Their son, Lewis, is a conductor for Conrail out of Meadville, Pa. Brother Wright maintains a small farm and enjoys playing golf.
"I have always appreciated my BLE membership," he said.

Bert Warren nears 43 years as BLE member, former CB&Q
Brother Bert P. Warren of BLE Division 727 (Sterling, Colo.) will celebrate 43 consecutive years as a member of the BLE in July 2003.
Brother Warren began his railroad career in October 1959 as a fireman for the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad in Alliance, Neb., and was promoted to locomotive engineer in 1963 by the CB&Q.
He joined BLE Division 727 in 1960 and served as local chairman from 1965-1969 and president from 1985 to 1989. He made his last run in October 1989.
He and his wife, Helen, have been married for 29 years. They have four children, Edie, Gerry, LeAnna and Brad, and two grandchildren.
Brother Warren enjoys sports, travel, fishing and boating. He is a member of the Eagles Club and the Elks Club.
