The Convention Begins
Since U.S. Section 6 notices were served in November of 1999, the BLE's
National Wage Committee (NWC) has met with the National Carriers' Conference
Committee (NCCC) for eight sessions, totaling 22 bargaining dates.
Procedures and Committees
In 2000, several key pieces of BLE-endorsed legislation were halted in
both the House and Senate by the Republican controlled Congress.
Voting: Resolutions and Officers
The BLE's education and organizing resources were put to an Herculean
test early in 2000 because of the ongoing attack by the UTU.
