The Negotiators

Dubroski, McCoy head up 7-man Wage Committee

The National Wage Committee that will be involved in this round of bargaining has been selected. The committee will be made up of four members of the Advisory Board and three members of the General Chairmen's Association.

International President Edward Dubroski and First Vice President Jim McCoy will head the Wage Committee, along with Vice Presidents Don Hahs and Paul Sorrow, who were selected by their fellow Advisory Board members. Hahs served on the Wage Committee in 1991 while a General Chairman on the former Southern Pacific Railroad.

General Chairmen Tim Murphy, Cleatus Roy and Mike Twombly were selected by their respective General Chairmen's Associations at their most recent meetings to round out the committee.

First Vice-President McCoy was elected to a Vice-President's position at the BLE's Sixth Quinquennial Convention, held in Detroit in July of 1996. He was elevated unanimously by the Advisory Board to the union's second highest office on August 7, 1999.

Vice-President Hahs was elected to a five-year term in 1996. Immediately prior to his election to vice-president, he served, since 1980, in the post of BLE General Chairman on the Southern Pacific Eastern Lines.

Vice-President Sorrow was re-elected for a second five-year term in July 1996. Prior to his first election in 1991, he served as the BLE General Chairman on CSX Transportation's (CSXT) Eastern Lines, elected September 1985, and re-elected in 1989.

BNSF (St. L & SF) General Chairman Murphy was selected to represent the West. He joined the BLE in 1977 and is a member of BLE Division 172 (Fort Worth, Texas). He has been a General Chairman since May 7, 1992.

Representing the South is CSX (Western lines) General Chairman Cleatus Roy. Roy, a member of BLE Division 742 (Henderson, Ky.), joined the BLE in 1975. He has been a General Chairman since December 1, 1994.

The East will be represented by D&H/Springfield Terminal General Chairman Twombly. In the last round of collective bargaining, Twombly negotiated the contract for that property because it was not in national handling. He joined the BLE in 1971, and is a member of BLE Division 191 (Lunenburg, Mass.). He has been a General Chairman since January 1, 1997.
