Dale McPherson is a Vice-President of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers Trainmen, a Division of the Rail Conference of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. He was re-elected by acclamation at the BLET's First Quadrennial Convention in Las Vegas, Nevada, on June 19, 2006.
He was elected to this position initially at the BLE's Seventh Quinquennial Convention in September 2001. On August 7, 1999, the BLE's Advisory Board elevated Brother McPherson to a vacant International Vice-President's position, following the promotion of then-Vice President Jim McCoy to the office of First Vice-President & Alternate President. Immediately prior to his 1999 promotion, McPherson served as First Alternate International Vice-President, winning election at the BLE's Sixth Quinquennial International Convention in July of 1996.
McPherson railroad career began on a tie gang with the Burlington Northern in 1973. He went firing in 1974 and he earned his promotion to locomotive engineer in April of 1975.
His service to the Brotherhood began in 1979 when he was elected local chairman of Division 195 (Forsyth, Mont.). He was then elected local chairman of BLE Division 180 (Glendive, Mont.) when it was first formed in 1981.
He was elected to a full time Vice-General Chairman's position on the BN in 1986. In 1991, he became BN's General Chairman and won reelection 1992 and 1995. He became First Alternate Vice-President in 1996 and was then appointed to coordinate short line contracts on Jan. 1, 1998.
Vice-President McPherson resides in St. Paul, Minn. In his time away from the BLET, Dale enjoys the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and boating. He also enjoys woodworking when he has the time. He has three children Amy, Aaron, and Andrew.
